Here is a link to a page out of the 1938 Pioneer Yearbook which has the lyrics to our Alma Mater.  Go Bears!

Here is the sheet music if you are unfamiliar with the tune.  It is from the 2018 SUNY Potsdam Commencement program.  As you can see, the lyrics have evolved over time.  This version will be what current graduates remember.

And here is a video of the Crane School of Music Choir singing it:

  1. The lyrics for the Potsdam Alma Mater posted don't seem to be the most updated? The chorus reads: Hail, dear Normal, Potsdam Normal, Dearest in the land, Praise to thee, our Alma Mater, Praise, all praise, Potsdam Are more current lyrics to be found? This doesn't seem the way that it sings during commencement. Or, am I just not musically inclined? :)

  2. Hi Lynn. I've edited this to include an image from the 2018 commencement program which has one verse of the newer lyrics you're thinking of as well as the sheet music. It has many fewer verses than the older copies of the lyrics, so when we were answering this question originally, we went with the older but more complete version. Thanks for you comment..
