If you are looking for a book we own and can't find it, you can assistance at the Help Desk.  You can also double check the record in BearCat.  What collection is it in? Crumb Stacks? Crumb Media? Crumb Reference? Oversize?  Make sure you are looking in the right place.  Also in BearCat, is the item "available"?  If there is a due date and time (or the record indicates the book is "lost"), it is already signed out.

Regardless of whether it is signed out or just plain missing, ask at the Circulation or Research Help Desk to fill out a "Request for Book Not on the Shelf" card.

  • If the book is signed out, we'll put a hold request on it so it is held for you when returned.
  • If the book is missing, we will search for it and hold it for you when found.
  • Either way, if we can't get the book back for its current borrower in time, or we can't find the book, we will initiate an Interlibrary Loan request so that you get the book you need.
